“WALK IN THEIR FOOT STEPS” CAMPAIGN TO BENEFIT HOMELESS OR DISABLED MILITARY VETERANS AND FAMILY MEMBERS AT THE WASHINGTON VETERANS AFFAIRS MEDICAL CENTER (VAMC) WINTERHAVEN STAND-DOWN EVENT, SATURDAY, JANUARY 26, 2019

Fairfax, VA– Technatomy Corporation’s CEO Nadeem Butler and COO William Burns will help kickoff this year’s boot drive benefiting the Veterans Affinity Group’s “Walk in Their Footsteps” initiative at the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) District of Columbia/National Capital Area Offices in Washington, DC, this coming November.

Coordinated by HUD District of Columbia and National Capitol Area Field Office Director Marvin Turner and VAG Chairman Walter Elmore, the boot distribution campaign is the centerpiece the annual Winterhaven event for DC-area homeless military veterans. It is scheduled to be held at the Washington VAMC on Saturday, January 26, 2018.

“The Winterhaven-Homeless Veterans Stand-Down event offers participating attendees a warm meal, clothing, and sorely needed clinical and social services absolutely free of charge,” Mr. Butler explains. “Yet, it’s the new pairs of boots distributed to each of these heroes that are seemingly most anticipated and appreciated each year. Participating in this campaign is a special way of positively impacting lives and giving comfort to those who’ve served our country.”

Since 2009, the Veterans Affinity Group and community partners have collected and distributed more than 7,900 pairs of new boots and shoes to homeless veterans, low-income veterans, and veterans transitioning from homelessness to stable housing, and their families in the Washington, DC area.

VAG is seeking donations of new boots and shoes in all sizes from 9.5 to 15.5.

Collection bins for the 2019 Walk in Their Footsteps boot donation drive are located in the HUD Headquarters Building (North and South Cafeteria entrance), 451 7th Street, SW, Washington, DC 20410 and the HUD District of Columbia Office/National Capital Area Office, 820 First Street (lobby area), Washington, DC 20002.
