Technatomy Associates Support the 25th Annual Winterhaven Stand Down Benefit for Homeless Veterans at VA Medical Center in Washington, DC

Washington, DC — Technatomy associates helped the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Veterans Affinity Group (HUD VAG) distribute hundreds of pairs of new boots to local veterans in need during the 25th Annual Winterhaven Stand Down Benefit for Homeless Veterans and their families held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the Washington, DC, VA Medical Center.

This is the sixth consecutive year that Technatomy Corporation has helped sponsor Winterhaven’s associated boot and shoe donation drive, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Veterans Affinity Group (VAG) “Walk in their Footsteps” campaign. According to Technatomy’s CEO and former Army Ranger, Nadeem Butler, the initiative has a poignant impact upon veterans.

“A new pair of boots offers these heroes a meaningful ‘hand up’ during a challenging period in their life’s journey. Not only do the boots offer warmth during the region's coldest weather, but they often provide a crucial and caring morale boost as the veteran is seeking employment or permanent housing,” Butler explained.

The Winterhaven Stand Down and related initiatives such as the HUD-VA Supportive Housing program have helped cut the rate of homelessness among our America’s veterans dramatically in recent years. In November, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development reported that veteran homelessness declined more 5% last year, contributing to an overall decrease of 50% since 2010.

Community involvement makes these encouraging results possible. According the Chairman of HUD VAG, Walter Elmore. “This program has really taken off since we’ve been working with Technatomy,” he says. “I don’t know what I would have done without an organization like Technatomy.”
