Intelligent Process Automation
At Technatomy, we believe in leveraging technology to solve organizational challenges, to enable strategic mission capabilities, and to empower people through intelligent automation. Our technology strategy starts with Digital Process Automation (DPA), where we apply proven business process management platforms to model, digitize and automate key processes that enable Agency mission success.
To us, the Process is the Application. We believe in low-code / no-code tools, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Internet of Things (IoT) to speed the delivery and implementation of model-based business process automation.

Managing Delivery of Care
The Challenge:
Technatomy was tasked by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to develop a software product that tracks and manages the delivery of care to patients in VA hospital emergency rooms.
Our Approach:
The ability for EDIS to manage ED workflows is crucial for standardization, measurement, and constant improvement to patient care. Our approach focused on keeping the code simple, testing often, and delivering functional pieces of the application as soon as they were ready.
The Result:
EDIS is deployed across 152 VA hospital EDs and 783 Urgent Care Clinics and community-based outpatient clinics nationwide. Our Agile SDLC process resulted in enhanced communication between development staff and business stakeholders to address issues and to meet critical agency deployment goals.
Intelligent Process Automation
Sharper Focus on Efficiency
The Challenge:
NIH NEI needed a process automation solution to improve the efficiency, transparency, and reliability of key administrative functions such as budget requests, on-boarding logistics, and other human resource-related processes.
Our Approach:
Following an agile-based implementation methodology, tailored to NEI’s organizational strategy, business process needs, and resource constraints, and leveraging its IntrafaciXTM advanced technology research and development (R&D) group, Technatomy successfully deployed a fully automated “Funds Request” (“Additional” and “Prior Year”) process into the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-hosted Microsoft Azure IaaS production cloud environment.
The Result:
This project enabled much faster completion of agency funding applications; improved coordination, communication, and tracking of requests in process; and enhanced visibility and transparency of budget allocations. This digital process automation project and executive sponsor were awarded a Federal Health IT (“FedHealthIT”) Innovation Award.

Enabling Veterans' Prescription Flexibility
The Challenge:
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) lacked the capability to electronically share veterans’ prescription data outside of a limited intra-VA network.
Our Approach:
Technatomy created the new solution concept, compared alternative designs through prototyping, and evolved the existing Pharmacy Reengineering (PRE) solution—in close coordination with VA’s Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Patient Care Services (PCS), Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) division.
The Result:
Our PRE enhancement streamlined and automated prescription data sharing processes—reducing VA’s administrative burden and improving service to our Veterans. Now, PRE integrates and ingests data from other major systems, including VistA applications, Medication Order Check Healthcare Application (MOCHA), and the Electronic Prescribing Transaction Hub. VA recognized Technatomy as an innovation leader for adoption of this hybrid approach, and for providing coaching to stakeholders to promote seamless adoption, specifically of Agile tenets.

Migrating IAM to the Cloud
The Challenge:
Veterans Affairs’ IAM provides automated, credential-based access control governing over 220 internal and external applications that assist the country’s 24 million veterans and 400,000 department employees and support contractors. Because of the intricate complexity, colossal size, and manifold application dependencies associated with IAM, no similar system had previously been targeted for migration to the VA’s enterprise cloud.
Our Approach:
Our approach involved transitioning IBM Tivoli Identity Manager and CA Siteminder-based systems into a more adaptable, secure, and available identity access management capability for the 630,000 users accessing the Department’s systems each day. This collaborative effort with Microsoft and eight contractor teams established a new service excellence benchmark for federal agency cloud migrations.
The Result:
This migration of IAM to VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC), the largest of the Department’s cloud modernization efforts to date and the first non-native Microsoft application moved successfully to VAEC-Azure, assures the government of reduced system latency, substantial cost savings, robust security and enhanced system availability.
